Anca Scourtari

Anca Scortariu is Deputy Head of Unit for AI in Health and Life Sciences at the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DGCONNECT) at the European Commission. She has nearly two decades of experience working at the intersection of digital technologies, research policy, and innovation. Her
work focuses on advancing European initiatives that integrate artificial intelligence with health data, digital infrastructure, and life-science research ecosystems. In this role, she contributes to shaping EU strategies that accelerate responsible AI adoption in healthcare while strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers. She is actively involved in initiatives supporting AI-driven research, digital health innovation, and Europe’s competitiveness in biomedical and data-driven science.
