Martin Ingvar

Bio: Martin Ingvar, MD, PhD is Senior Professor at Karolinska Institute and an internationally recognized neuroscientist whose work focuses on brain function, cognition, learning, and decision-making.

Trained in neurophysiology, he has led interdisciplinary research on pain mechanisms, placebo responses, and the neural foundations of behaviour and judgment. Beyond academia, Ingvar has held senior leadership roles at Karolinska Institute, including Dean of Research and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and has served on several international advisory boards in health and outcomes research.

A prolific scientific author and public communicator, he bridges neuroscience with societal and organizational questions. His perspective is particularly relevant to discussions on artificial intelligence, critical thinking, and how human cognition and creativity evolve as intelligent technologies increasingly participate in research and decision-making environments.
