Ola Engkvist

Ola Engkvist, PhD, is Executive Director and Head of Molecular AI within Discovery Sciences at AstraZeneca R&D, where he leads the development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance molecular design, property prediction, and drug discovery. With a PhD in computational chemistry and postdoctoral research experience, Ola has published well over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles on AI-driven molecular design, deep learning in drug discovery, and cheminformatics, making him one of the most cited industrial researchers in his field. He holds an adjunct professorship in machine learning and AI for drug design at Chalmers University of Technology, serves as a Trustee of the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, and is recognized internationally for his work at the intersection of AI, chemistry, and pharmaceutical innovation.
